The services we provide
Otoscopy – visual inspection of the ear canal and eardrum.
Tympanometry – assessment of middle ear function.
Audiometric Testing - Completed in a large walk-in sound-treated booth. Determines the type and degree
of hearing loss.
o Pure-tone Air and Bone Conduction Thresholds at various frequencies or pitches are determined along with Speech Recognition Thresholds and Word Understanding. Headset earphones or insert earphones are used.
o Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) is used to test small children using sound-field speakers, light boxes with fun cartoon characters and motion lights to combine a visual reinforcement with the sound.
Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) - for screening newborn babies as well as others who may have difficulty completing a regular hearing evaluation.
- We use multiple hearing aid manufacturers (including Phonak, Siemens, Widex, GN Resound and others) to help insure you are fit with the hearing aid that is most appropriate for your hearing loss, lifestyle and listening needs.
- We service
what we sell. Any in-house service including minor repairs, modifications,
cleaning and inspecting is free for the life of the hearing aid. If service
is required by the manufacturer lab or an all-make lab, an estimate of
charges will be given. Of course, if the hearing aid is under warranty,
there is no charge.
- We also service hearing aids purchased elsewhere for a
nominal fee. We offer either a per-office-visit charge or you can sign up
for a Full Service Plan that is good for a year. Again, if the hearing aid
is not under warranty and needs to be sent to a lab for repair, we will
provide an estimate of charges.
- All of our hearing aids come with a risk-free trial
period of no less than 30 days.
- Most of our hearing aids include a 3-year Manufacturer
Warranty and free batteries for 3 years.
Hearing loss from excessive exposure to noise is one of the most common causes of hearing loss, especially among baby-boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964). This type of hearing loss can be caused by a one-time exposure to loud sound as well as by repeated exposure to sounds at various levels. It is referred to as Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and is almost always preventable but rarely reversible.
